"BIG BANG"
Beautiful shoot by Fabio Esposito

-------------------

I've been using my other blog more recently: (thelifeofafashionintern.blogspot.com) so check that out for tales of New York, day trips to Amsterdam etc...

My favourite thing about twitter is finding amazing photographers, magazine etc that I've not heard of before. I love this shoot by Fabio, check out the rest of his work at fabioesposito.co.uk

Dip-Dye, Tie-Dye, One Eye...

I've fallen in love with Forever 21. I thought it was a dead tacky and cheap shop, and ok, yes, quite a bit of the stuff is (think gross tank tops with things like LOVE and PEACE on them) but I found myself wandering around the store a few days ago with a growing mental wish-list of items from there! Being a good student I only bought 1 thing on my wish-list when I popped in during my lunch break.
(See cheesy webcam pic of my beaut new tie-dye cropped tee)

In other news:

Working with Carly Ellis is ACE. She is the nicest person to intern with.

I LOVE NEW YORK.

I have an interview at VIKTOR AND ROLF in Amsterdam next month.

NYC

I will be blogging a diary of my time in  N Y C  on here the life of a fashion intern!

I have to keep a diary as part of my assessment for Uni, and one my parents/grandparents are reading to make sure I've not been kidnapped or "shot by gangs" as I think they're expecting to happen to me (Brooklyn really isn't that bad, right?) So anyway, it'll be quite a sensible and mostly polite, potentially some editing out of some stories and pictures which will end up on here!

Photos and stories still to come, NYC, I LOVE YOU.

concrete jungle where dreams are made of

So the frequency in which I blog is becoming less and less. Since my last post it has been my 21st birthday which you can read a little about on Dana's blog; note the amazing cake her and Tala baked me! Best friends in the world, seriously.

Latest news is that I am going to New York. In 3 weeks. Holy Shit. I'm going to be interning with Carly Ellis and cannot explain how excited I am about it all.

Any advise on things that are a must see or must do in NYC please shout out!!

Expect an epic (excuse the use of such a terrible word) post full of OMGI'MINNYC photos in about a months time, but until then I have 2 essays, 2 design projects, flights to book and accommodation to find.

New York, I'll see you in 3 weeks. (yikes!)

translate: "the common clothes moth"

My most recent project, inspired by a creature that most people find ugly, or even scary, yet so fragile it turns to dust.

playing catch up

So since September, my course has been dead full on with loads of exciting projects and really heavy work loads. University of Salford collaborated with RMIT in Melbourne for a 12 hour live project over skype which was loads of fun, if not weird being locking in the studio over night - spooky! You can click here to watch a video compiled with-in the 12 hours, and for more about what it was all about see  Salford-RMIT-Fashion on facebook

My favourite project of the year was our "Portrait of a Woman" live project, for a bespoke fabric company in Ningbo, China. It was our first week back after summer, the project was launched and we had 2 weeks to create a draped dress from fabric made from milk protein - Yes, I did say milk! Week one was spent draping to create our toile:

Week 2 started with a toile crit where we were given our final fabric from the company, at first I really wasn't keen on the colour (I decided the shade should be called dusty mustard, hardly pleasant sounding) but began to warm to it. Here are my final images taken by the amazing Layla Sailor.

I was so lucky that my dress was chosen by my tutors to be sent to the company in China, and potentially be shown at the exhibition with other Universities work. Along with the images, Layla also created a beautiful video incorporating everyone's work, take a look and see what you think.

(It's a vimeo link and I can't work out how to put this into my post, if anyone knows please tell me!)

Enjoy, and Happy New Year! xo

into the mist.

The summer is coming to an end, and with that I've finally finished my magazine project! I'm taking it to the printers in the morning so hopefully tomorrow evening I'll come home with a beautiful magazine, all bound and lovely. Hopefully. My final photoshoot for the magazine was one of an outfit I made.
(faux red leather jacket, mesh and PVC top and dropped hem skirt.)
A HUGE thanks to my stunning model Jess, and amazing as ever photographer, Dana Ali.
(and to the beautiful 2 hours of weather amongst the really stormy days we'd had!)

Take a look and let me know what you think :)
